We have an extensive technology background and certifications in desktop support, database design and management, Office products, Microsoft Windows, networking, backing things up, and hardware replacement. While we point the bigger jobs to our local business friends who specialize in more complicated situations, we tend to focus on the smaller jobs that are a lot quicker for us and cheaper for you (with some services even being free).
Our non-technology services include things that benefit the community or yourself, both business and individuals.

Computer/Technology
Nothing too complicated, but enough to wet all the appropriate whistles. vekins can set up remote connections to your computer so as to fix something that can be fixed quickly without a trip out or you wondering if our dog is in the pin or not.
Rates vary based on what it is and how long it will take (scope of project).
- Install new hardware like fans (if you can hear your fan loud and often, it’s probably time), laptop monitors, graphics cards, stuff like that.
- Download pictures and files off of an old hard drive/computer and put them on something new.
- Check for viruses/malware/adware and make sure your anti-virus/the other stuff software is up to date (or install one if you don’t have one already.
- Clean up your computer to make it run a little faster and/or check for other issues you’re having.
- Back up all your files, pictures, etc. to either a flash drive, external drive, or another place on your computer.
- Set up an external hard drive and schedule for your backups.
- Consult on new computer purchases.
- Replace watch batteries. (we have the tiny tools, so why not use ’em)
Database design
From DVD collections (90s and 2000s left us all with plenty), to customer databases, employee information, billing and password management, other helpful alternatives besides using Excel (although Excel is extremely helpful, you might be better served by converting that usage to a desktop application).
Rates are based on the scope of the project.
Web design
Most all web sites can be canned WordPress templates, but we can install those, configure, even do custom work on those templates and install and configure plugins (like contact forms and accepting payments), set up company emails from the site, etc. We can build sites from the ground up, but things like WP can do the hard work for us (this vekins site is one of the simplest WordPress templates, but there are millions of variations). We can take you through registering domains and selecting hosting plans and managing changes to your site in the future.
Rates are based on the scope of the project.

Notary Public Services
I am a registered South Carolina Notary Public.
Kevin Smith (name on notary registration), my commission expires July 26th, 2027. I offer this service free of charge.
- I do not charge but will take a biscuit money tip.
- Selling/buying a car does not require a notary in SC, although we can notarize them if it makes you feel better.
- I can notarize documents intended for another state, as long as the notarization physically takes place in SC and the notarization adheres to SC guidelines.
- I generally prefer you to come to my house (that way I don’t have to take off my robe) but will meet you at a distance within reason if my schedule permits.
- I can notarize your marriage paperwork free of charge if it entails ONLY signing and notarizing. Any officiating services (even if as Notary Public) fall under the scope of wedding officiating mentioned below.
Certifications
I have many certifications for various things which can be put to use for various things in a consultant status.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Process management to help improve efficiency in operations.
- OSHA 30 Safety Manager.
- ISO 9001 (manufacturing) and 13485 (medical part manufacturing) certified manager and internal auditor. “International standards ensure that the products and services you use daily are safe, reliable, and of high quality. They also guide businesses in adopting sustainable and ethical practices, helping to create a future where your purchases not only perform excellently but also safeguard our planet. In essence, standards seamlessly blend quality with conscience, enhancing your everyday experiences and choices.”
Wedding Officiant
I can hitch you up. I’m an ordained minister legally able to officiate weddings and sign wedding licenses in the United States, and a Notary Public in SC. I can officiate and/or sign with either credential. I do traditional and non-traditional weddings…basically whatever you like…I do not judge. The paperwork signing is what matters legally, what comes before is fun. I have prepared vows that I can re-write for your custom wedding. My standard fee is $150, but that can change over the needs of the ceremony or the distance I have to travel. My participation is of course dependent on my schedule.
